Ranchers for Wildlife

Together We Can Get Conservation in the Curriculum

Cactus Creek Ranch

Ranchers For Wildlife was organized by MJ Bogatto with Cactus Creek Ranch in order to bring Ranchers and Refuge Staff together to discuss the future of our unique area bordering refuge lands benefitting the flora/fauna of South Texas Habitat and our inhabitants.

Cactus Creek has hosted numerous conservation events since the year 1995, including hosting Sec. of Interior, Bruce Babbitt, to discuss the peregrine and other species progress.

Project Leader Kelly McDowell, who oversees the three Refuges in South Texas (including Laguna Atascosa, Lower Rio Grande Valley and Santa Ana NWR), will be on hand to talk about wildlife and habitat priorities for the future. He will have maps highlighting refuge lands outlining boundaries, strategy and priority areas.  Kelly McDowell and Sonny Perez have an open-door policy and are willing and interested in hearing what their neighbors have to say.

Tim Anderson, the Private Lands Coordinator based out of Corpus Christi, will be on hand to discuss conservation easements and Safe Harbor Agreements.

Nancy Brown the Public Outreach Specialist/South Texas Refuge Complex will also be on hand to answer your questions.
